Longlisted for the Visual Art Open Awards
Once again I've made the long list - this year the award received over 30,000 entries worldwide I was told! It would be amazing if I made it the shortlist or even the final, but I'm very happy with this result so far.
Society of Women Artists Selection & Exhibition
23rd June 2026 saw the opening of the annual Society of Women Artists’ exhibition at the Mall Galleries, near Buckingham Palace in London. I was delighted that my sculpture Walking Woman was selected for this prestigious event, featuring leading female artists from across the world in June. Even though the event itself is over, you can still buy art direct from their website. Walking Woman and the large version of the Reader are both on show until the end of September at this stunning , peaceful location just over the border into Wales. This year, over 50 sculptors are represented. Combining a visit to the garden along with a visit to nearby Tintern Abbey and a local pub for lunch makes a great day out.
Latest commissions finished – and further casts available
I’ve loved working on Connection, a commission by three buyers, who have just turned 60 and wanted to commemorate their long friendship with a sculpture. I delivered it in person last week and I am glad to report that they love it. They kindly offered for me to offer this as a limited edition of 9 (meaning, under traditional sculpture conventions, each one can be called an original) in bonded marble, so I have a further six casts available, the first of which is already on the Saatchi Art website. This has pushed me into a more abstract direction, which I look forward to exploring further. More photos to be added shortly.
I’ve also just put the finishing touches to the small version of Skygazer, the first customer of which will be collecting theirs this weekend. This represents another departure for me, as these are all unique pieces created using metallic 3D printing, then with many hours spent by me applying a surface texture and colour-way involving multiple materials. The first three in this limited series will shortly be on Saatchi too.
Exhibitions I recommend visiting
This summer is proving to be a great one for visiting art in the UK and Europe. Here are my current two top picks:
Henry Moore at Kew Gardens, London – a comprehensive retrospective of this pioneering 20th century British sculptor. I visited on Friday and was impressed by the curation.
Halma Af Klimt, Grand Palais, Paris – a long overdue retrospective of this female pioneer of abstractism, long overlooked by her male colleagues.
